En el noveno aniversario de la siembra de Berta Cáceres, las organizaciones abajo firmantes, miembros de la Misión de Observación Calificada, expresamos nuestra solidaridad con la familia de Berta, el COPINH y la sociedad civil hondureña que sigue viviendo en una situación de riesgo permanente por defender los derechos territoriales. 

El legado de Berta Cáceres es hoy más fuerte que nunca, como lo demuestran los incansables esfuerzos de su familia y del COPINH para lograr justicia integral por el crimen en su contra, y también para el Pueblo Lenca, víctima de la impunidad empresarial. Aunque reconocemos los importantes pasos dados para hacer justicia en este caso, instamos al Estado a que este año sea definitivo para la identificación, judicialización y sanción de los autores intelectuales del asesinato de Berta, así como de los numerosos delitos financieros y de otro tipo cometidos en el contexto de la defensa del río Gualcarque en Río Blanco.

En este sentido, saludamos la reciente creación del Grupo Internacional de Expertos Independientes (GIEI) y hacemos un llamado al Estado hondureño para que garantice el apoyo necesario para que realice su trabajo de esclarecimiento de responsabilidades intelectuales y de reparación a las víctimas en los próximos seis meses.

Hoy, abrazamos a la familia de Berta y al COPINH y nos unimos a sus reclamos de justicia y respeto a los derechos territoriales ancestrales.

Para Berta, y las demás personas defensoras de la tierra, 

¡toda la verdad, toda la justicia!

9th anniversary of the murder of Berta Cáceres

On the ninth anniversary of the murder of Berta Cáceres, we, the undersigned organizations, members of the Technical Observation Mission, express our solidarity with Berta's family, COPINH and Honduran civil society, which continues to live in a situation of permanent risk for defending territorial rights.

Berta Cáceres' legacy is stronger today than ever, as demonstrated by the tireless efforts of her family and COPINH to achieve full justice for the crime committed against her, and also for the Lenca people, victims of corporate impunity. Although we recognize the important steps taken to achieve justice in this case, we urge the State to make this year decisive for the identification, prosecution and punishment of the intellectual authors of Berta's murder, as well as of the numerous financial and other crimes committed in the context of the defense of the Gualcarque River in Río Blanco.

To this end, we welcome the recent creation of the International Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) and we call on the Honduran State to guarantee the necessary support for it to carry out its work of clarifying intellectual responsibilities and providing reparation to the victims in the next six months.

Today, we embrace Berta's family and COPINH and we join their demands for justice and respect for ancestral territorial rights.

For Berta, and land defenders, 'all truth, all justice'!
